belstaff trialmaster jacket

London Fashion Week Men’s this season celebrates a poignant moment in the British labels history to mark the 70th Anniversary of the iconic Trial Master Jacket.

Belstaff’s self titled collection Made In The UK presents a unisex clothing range deeply rooted in the 100th year history of innovation and legacy of protection for adventure.

The Autumn Winter 2018 collection draws inspiration from the English Subcultures through exploration of the Trial Master’s history from a curated selection of the original archive through innovations in fabrics, production and design aesthetic portraying a bygone era when they were launched.

This iconic four pocket Trial Master Jacket was originally designed for protection against harsh weather conditions during the Scottish Six Day’s Trials showcases colour, distinct decorative pins and badges that depict the pride of previous generations.

A sense of youth bears resemblance to referencing the 1950’s from Mod’s, Rocker’s, and Punk era that sought freedom of expression through music and fashion with inter generational popular culture clashes.

Belstaff since 1924 has been the supplier of protective clothing for generations of pioneers which now includes its discerning clientele that thrives on modern day spirit of adventure.

Following on from the presentation Belstaff hosted a private event with Liberty of London to celebrate the new Origins Collection presenting the latest in technology and new innovative fabrics such as ultra stretch lightweight nylon and tri layer nylon as functional weather proof and high performance materials.

‘Buy Less Choose Well, Make it Last’ for a greener planet.

I did hear of London Blogger Jaimee London Boy from Boy Meets Fashion walking the runway at one show with Vivienne to support the cause. It’s really great to see more diversity in the shows not just models, but real people and characters too.

This season collection was allot different to her signature lines of 18th Century Rococo inspired lines as well as Anglomania to Red Label which love too for their quirky sense of style. Definitely have a browse at the Flagship store on Conduit Street to get a sense of the individual collections up close.

I remember attending a trunk show there for a Mad Hatter’s Alice in Wonderland Theme Cocktail Tea Party a few years back as a Stylist Assistant.

Westwood’s political message inspires to win the fight for the free world to save the earth

Day 4 of LFW Men’s it seems some designers went all out with bang to impress the international press and VIP’s as the show in usual fashion was delayed by 30 mins

I had an early start to the morning so the show certainly grasped my attention with a spectacular performance by Circus Artist intertwined with the catwalk show.

These symbols are aptly named Love, Free World & IOU, Greed Rot $ Propaganda, War and Giants like Shell and Monsanto who rape the Earth.

Models saunter down the runway with faces full of makeup which will express each of the 4 symbols inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s collection ‘We are MotherFucker’.

Clearly there was no fashion theme but a political message to win the fight for the free world to save the earth was evident

Bohemian Festival Style was born at born at Woodstock

It’s back to Woodstock, the summer of 1969 style is trending this season and in which case you’re wondering what did they wear back then and how do you dress like them as Bohemian Festival Style was born at born at Woodstock. This music festival was held the summer of August 15th to 18th in Nineteen Sixty Nine on dairy farm in Bethel, New York.

The Music Festival captured the zeitgeist of the late 1960’s as the underground cultural movement and attitudes of bohemian festival goers as seen in the film Woodstock.

Menswear pieces in the collection embrace the effortless style of Ben Sherman’s heritage re-visiting a passion for music and iconic sixties music festival posters.

The Era where it was all about flamboyance and extravagance of Peacocks allowing men to pioneer a distinct and colourful dress sense.

Summer is already underway and I cannot help feel inspired by the looks coming down the catwalk as I witnessed rich pattern floral, vintage, and spring floral art patterns adorn garments.

Even the catwalks soundtrack echoed the genre of folk and rock, blue’s rock, hard rock, jazz fusion to psychedelic to progressive rock to set the scene for the collection.

A fresh summer palette saw traditional patterns revived for spring summer 2018

Retro looks form the essence of the sixties psychedelic peacock inspiration combining a contemporary twist to tailoring including deconstructed summer blazers, soft linen separates worn with printed shorts.

Ben Sherman

Key directional pieces of the collection such as suede jackets, hooded parka, relaxed drawstring trousers and gingham shirts looked great in shades of dark denim, claret red and soft pinks.

A fresh summer palette saw traditional patterns revived for spring summer 2018 in indigo, denim for outerwear, bolder hues of brick and tan teamed with classic stripes and checks.

This season’s psychedelic inspiration injecting a bohemian spirit into the collection.

While burnt sienna and pineapple on jerseys and shirting looked vibrant as contemporary silhouettes brought to life this season’s psychedelic inspiration injecting a bohemian spirit into the collection.

KENT & CURWEN CELEBRATE THE GREAT SPORTING LEGACY OF THE BRITISH ISLES

HERITAGE SPORTING TRADITIONS MAKE A STRONG SUMMER STATEMENT WITH COLLEGIATE VINTAGE STYLE MENSWEAR APPAREL

Kent & Curwen

Kent & Curwen founded in 1926

Creative Director Daniel Kearns and Brand partner David Beckham showcased their Spring Summer 2018 presentation during London Fashion Week Men’s where the show took place in a discreet courtyard on Floral Street Covent Garden.

The Spring Summer 2018 Kent & Curwen Collection takes inspiration from a moment in Britain’s Olympic History as supported by Brand Partner David Beckham proudly wearing the Union Jack on a new season red, white and blue rugby shirt.

Kent & Curwen

Regatta stripes this season make their debut taken from the archive where swatch books of the thirties era were revived with uniqueness designed for Cambridge and Oxford Universities, prestigious rowing, cricket and tennis clubs to British Regiments.

It was known that each organisation had their own pattern that only team members were allowed to wear.

“British Heritage Menswear Brand from London”

Key signature pieces for Spring Summer 2018 included a tan woolen duffle coat true to the original. With every fine detail I really liked the coats cut in heavy melton that’s robust but soft to touch giving it that feeling of premium luxury.

Kent & Curwen

Styling details in the collection drew inspiration from forties rowing kits

The duffle coat is finished with a toogle fastening with authentic wooden torpido toggles, hip pockets and a versatile hood to combat the British Weather. I’d say, worth investing in which is so ideal for chilly early spring season as a transition piece.

This season’s collection also makes me think about ‘Henley Royal Regatta’ as you’ll also want to covet accessories such as the versatile lambswool blanket scarf is the perfect finishing touch for breezy spring time. Styling details in the collection drew inspiration from Men’s forties rowing kits where the luxurious scarf is finished with pin-fringed ends and shows the Kent & Curwen signature nineteen twenty six rose emblem.

The new collection was inspired by teams as models gathered on a rostrum in front of guest reminiscent of a sporting team photograph accompanied by the soundtrack of 90’s indie mixed with new East London band Happiness. It felt almost like a trip down memory lane where models presented the heritage inspired sportswear collection on a catwalk fashioned like a vintage school sports hall. From that very brief moment it took me back to my school days as a young pupil was nostalgic indeed. Upstairs above the show space, imagery from the new collection hung in the space of an art instillation gallery style exhibition where invited guest were treated to indulge in scrumptious treats and refreshments inspired by the British Summertime. With set plans underway for the future of the British Fashion Label Kent and Curwen will open its first store under the Kearns / Beckham Partnership in the autumn which is exciting news.

When you think of who pioneered the New Romantics Movement you often think of Steve Strange, David Bowie, Duran Duran to Boy George during this era of popular culture that influenced music and iconic fashion trends.

Topman’s signature design concept is brought to life by referencing the past in order to influence the future was the theme for this seasons collection.

“@Topman #TopmanStyle

It was evident the 80’s was paving it’s way for a comeback as I observed the way Topman Design styled their collection.

I did like a majority of the retro inspired pieces including separates such as cropped jackets, lux sportswear, tailoring and loose fitting silhouettes on high waist trousers accented by white, grey, black to stripes and abstract print details to proportions in the garments.

Topman

Modern Romantics’ presented with a unique flair for fashion spirit and carefree attitude of the wearer.

For the launch today I decided to wear a monochrome look which is simple but yet still understated to make a style statement and still look polished was exactly the look I was going for to capture the moment.
