THERE’S ALWAYS TIME FOR TEA

As far as settings go attention to detail is key, it doesn’t get much more iconic than the Waldorf Hilton

I’m so honoured to be a guest at this illustrious hotel blending the elegance and grandeur of Edwardian London with modern comfort.

Here you will immerse yourself fully in the atmosphere of Theatreland with the pre-theatre dinner option also available at Homage where you can expect magical afternoon tea or dinner experiences with live music in the heart of the West End.

The Waldorf Hilton is only stone’s throw away from the Capitals best shops, bars, Galleries and landmarks Somerset House, Royal Opera House and Covent Garden Piazza which makes it a prime location within walking distance.

Any afternoon tea plans for the week? They have live music every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Just recently we were invited to try out the Royal Afternoon Tea at The Waldorf Hilton Aldwych an iconic luxury hotel in London’s West End Theatre Land where it has stood since 1908. The Homage Restaurant inside the hotel host an elegant high tea experience allowing guest to indulge in special and unique tea blends, classic finger sandwiches, canapes, Devonshire scones to their Platinum Jubilee Deserts. It was the perfect start to a memorable weekend where you will experience the magic unfold at Homage.

From sparkling chandeliers, Edwardian columns, and gilded detail, the restaurant pays tribute to the grand cafes of Europe. At Homage, you can expect to enjoy the finest dining experience within an elegant and tranquil setting.

Royal Afternoon Tea for Two

Take advantage of this unique experience where you can enjoy a take on one of Britain’s favourite pastimes. From freshly cut sandwiches and savouries to warm scones served with clotted cream and jam, there’s nothing more delightful than a perfect Afternoon Tea wouldn’t you agree? We discovered that one of HM The Queen’s favourite elevenses, the strawberry jam sandwich, reimagined. Sample a selection of Her Majesty’s favourite treats, live harp performance and the new memories you’ll always cherish.

Our main highlights had to be the Louis Pommery England Sparkling Wine and Pommery Champagne, glazed mint chocolate mouse a Homage to Her Majesty’s favourite desert, Bombe Glacee Royale with Strawberry jam sandwich macaroons. We then finished our visit with Organic Red Velvet Tea to the Waldorf Signature Tea Blends and Devonshire Clotted cream scones.

The deserts were mildly sweet, but I really enjoyed them to much delight and the hospitality was exceptional throughout the whole experience. Upon arrival we where seated in a secluded private dining area of the Homage Grand Salon Restaurant with a complimentary glass of Champagne. I would absolutely recommend to anyone as a must do and be surely coming back to sample more culinary delights next time.

Enjoy this summer to the fullest at Waldorf Hilton and set the scene right for the memories that will last forever with Homage for a quintessentially afternoon tea in a timeless setting.

ELEGANT HOTEL BARS & RESTAURANTS TO TRY OUT THIS WEEKEND – WHAT TO WEAR

What will you be up to this Weekend? Nevertheless I hope you make the most of it before the new season starts and we begin to see autumn again. I don’t think I’ve ever planned that far ahead even though its already just around the corner and we see a shift again in our wardrobe from spring/summer to autumn/winter styles our go to closet staples get their chance to take centre stage. Lucky for me I know this city at the back of my hand having been based here a few years I won’t ever find myself bored getting dressed up to head out. Even more so, there is so much to see and explore in London which boast the best cocktail bars, restaurants to luxury hotels serving the most exquisite drinks with imagination catering to the ever more discerning drinkers. If you’re open to finding you’re new favourite tipple for a change, here are just a couple of places I’ve suggested that tick my boxes in London’s West End as my go to hang-out spots in town.

The Hamyard Hotel – Dive Bar

Soho London

Situated a stone’s throw away from China town just 3 minutes walk – The Dive Bar located on the lower ground floor of The Hamyard Hotel.

This hidden gem is named in honour of a 3 ft neon lady diver  which hangs on the wall with a lit bar area event space for intimate gatherings. The bar is kitted out with cascading signature Kit Kemp designed Rick Rack Wall fabric by De Gournay for a personal touch. Gain access to secluded private rooms adjacent to a theatre screening room including an array of eclectic artwork and furnished with eccentricity of wanderlust appeal.

Perhaps take a moment on a lazy rainy afternoon to explore the hotels most treasured rooms to unwind? Let your imagination run wild by burying your nose in a good book. Head on upstairs in the guest areas of the hotels library and discover literature to piqué your interest from other-worldly subjects and cultural affairs to satisfy book worms selected by literary expert Philip Blackwell.

But, what about the cocktails? Let’s say the drinks speak for themselves. The clever twist on classic to contemporary favourites are re-invented with tailor made martini’s using gin or vodka to homemade ingredients such as the homemade tonics in the signature Hamyard Gin & Tonic blended with Campari, St Germain, Portobello Road Gin and grapefruit bitters – you can be sure to find your new tipple that will impress gin and martini fans alike.

Today I took a walk from Trafalgar Square and while I was there visited the National Portrait Gallery for a moment of peace away from the hustle and bustle of the west end just slightly after lunch time. It’s always good to walk on foot if you have the time to spare as well as spontaneously find new places to check out. I’d say unique Hotels with a quiet bar as well as a luxury dining room with exquisite ambiance is my sanctuary. After a busy morning you’d want to find somewhere to relax and unwind to spend the rest of your lazy afternoon. I’d just arrived at this Hotel on the corner of Suffolk Place on Haymarket where a friend and I decided to pop in for quick drink in The Brumus Bar and Restaurant located inside the Haymarket Hotel before heading over to The Hamyard Hotel Bar in Soho later in the evening. The hotel interiors were very elegant and quirky as I noticed the Canine Doggies upholstered onto the back of the bar stools and restaurant in a regal purple and pink fuchsia appealed to me. For all you pet lovers at home as they say ‘a man’s best friend is also his dog’ so immediately I felt very at home here. I thought it had a personal touch as well as being distinctly sophisticated which stood out as a style statement. I’m really impressed from what I’ve seen so far even though it was just a brief visit I definitely would pop in again for the foreseeable future.

The Brumus Bar & Restaurant

Haymarket London

Renowned for its exquisite elegance where you’ll experience a traditional afternoon tea in style at the newly refurbished and spacious Brumus Bar & Restaurant situated in the heart of London’s Theatre district..

Expect plush interiors nonetheless, unique art installations reflects the passion of its founder and Creative Director Kit Kemp is present within the interior design of the hotel. Experience the homely and inviting ambience of the hotel restaurants or drawing rooms were afternoon tea is served all day with quintessential flair. Definitely make this your pit stop after a day of shopping or pre-theatre dinning before a West-End show. But the most enticing thing about this place is most definitely the sumptuous hotel cocktail and bar menu with carefully curated wine list and spirits to deliciously mixed cocktails to complimenting menu of continental taste from main dishes to sharing platters.

By Posted on 0 Comments Location: 2min read1214 views

The first thing which comes to mind when you think about living the Italian way of life is culture through cuisine and only the finest authentic food can be found at this Top Milanese Restaurant Osteria Mamma Rosa just off the trendy Corso Buenos Airies within walking distance of Porto Venezia.

In Italy an Osteria restaurant cuisine serves a selection of wine and food which is known especially for local specialities such as pasta dishes, grilled meat or fish where menu’s selections tend to be short. Throughout history some traditional Osteria establishment’s dates even far back as to the 14th and 15th Century. Upon my visit to Milan for Fashion Week in between the shows and events I managed to visit here a couple of times to dine with friends. This hidden gem in the heart of Milan’s City Centre has to be by far one of my favourite restaurant experiences so far for Italian cuisine and hope to return soon next time I visit again for fashion week.

My favourite signature dish here has to be the Sea Bass prepared the Liguria way served with potatoes’  as an alternative to the Grilled Seabass which is also delightfully sumptuous. On arrival prosecco is served before dinner as a gesture of good will and the atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming at this family run restaurant in the heart of Milan. Walk in’s are welcome during busy hours. Great food and fantastic atmosphere to enjoy culinary delights just like a local at this fine establishment in the center of Milan.

EAST MAMMA – THE BEST ITALIAN TRATTORIA IN PARIS

By Posted on 0 Comments Location: 2min read1225 views

During my visit to Paris during Fashion Week I’ve been here with friends and the food is really great and freshly prepared. East Mamma is a laid back Italian restaurant often referred to as a Neapolitan Style Trattoria serving the most authentic Italian Food which you’ll find situated at Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine in the Bastille district of Paris. I would definitely say that ‘Pizza in this place is just divine, but more on that in just a moment…..

If you’re a fan of authentic Italian food you will find exceptional food and friendly service at East Mamma Restaurant which is very popular on the Parisian Scene with the locals too. East Mamma is part of the Big Mamma Restaurant group and serves the most exquisite dishes from Fresh Pasta, Pizza, Salads to sumptuous Deserts.

During my dinner I decided to try their Pizza Napoletana Red Hot Burrata which comes with a spicy tomatoes sauce, hot sausage and topped with plenty of Mozzarella cheese for texture.  If you like pasta I would highly recommend the Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina served with fresh tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. All portions of food served is a very large size suitable for 2 people to share which is very filling.

The great news is that this fantastic Italian restaurant cuisine is closer to home than you think with the Italian Style eating establishment from the Big Mamma Group has opened Gloria in Shoreditch so expect a queues outside during peak hours  as rumour has it they don’t take reservations.
