ENGAGEMENT PARTIES THIS SPRING? GET CLUED UP ON DRESS CODES, STYLES AND ACCESSORIES

The perils of recently engaged party dress code – you are not alone in your dilemma.

Wedding fever has got the better of us, and with so many Dress Codes what does a Gent wear to mark a formal special occasion? Check out my recommendations on what to wear to that all important official engagement party, which reminds me that my close friends are announcing their official engagement at a formal cocktail party before the big day. I find Weddings are the best way to kick off the summer before the new seasons sporting calendar calls for a change of attire and embark on our summer vacation.

There’s never been a better time to discover tailoring that looks great, no matter what season it is and of course fine accessories to match. I recommend a great range of watches by brands Larsson and Jennings or Smart Turnout which I love for their vibrant watch straps just like the one I have is a classic preppy style. The look is now complete which reminds something is missing perhaps gifts for the future Bride and Groom as I still have a bit of time to organise finding the perfect gift before this week’s engagement party!

OFF-WHITE FASHION LABEL X ARTIST TAKASHI MURAKAMI COLLABORATE FOR SOLO ART EXHIBITION

THE PRIVATE PREVIEW AT GAGOSIAN GALLERY LONDON

On the eve of London Fashion it’s not uncommon to see large crowds queuing down the street especially for a fashion show or event.

Today is the opening reception and private view of ‘Future History’ by legendary Artist Takashi Murakami in collaboration with exclusive fashion label OFF-WHITE by designer Virgil Abloh exhibits in London.

Street wear fans of OFF-WHITE and the Artist gathered to view the exclusive works of art at the Mayfair Gallery.

If you’re a fan of street style subcultures, contemporary and graffiti style art work drop on by, but just to give you a heads up there might be a long queue or if you can get on the VIP list it might just be your lucky day.

Sometimes it’s great to take in some inspiration especially if it’s great works of art and I wanted to take a moment to have break from the catwalk shows during London Fashion Week to relax.

Here’s what’s on show at the exhibition so come down and see for yourself. It’s just like that book I read at University NO LOGO by Naomi Klein what is the value of brands and how doe’s popular culture influence us in society.

OFF-WHITE

Whether Art or Fashion the message is clearly intended to draw the viewers in that we must buy into popular culture in order to be part of something big.

Off-White is a creative collective or at least now an art, fashion and music movement with a huge following on social media. For those that have not heard of Off-White it’s currently the cult street wear label of the moment and lifestyle brand getting lots of media attention for it’s exclusive collaborations.

Ben Sherman x House of Holland captures the heart of the Northern Soul Movement which dance is a key inspiration taken from a series of black and white images by acclaimed Photographer Brian Cannon commissioned by the band Oasis during their early career

It’s evident in the collection as the models came down the runway the emphasis of visual photography are applied on printed graphic tees, polo tops and shirts.

I’ll never forget the spectacular performance of Northern Soul Dancers who took to the catwalk which brought the iconic subculture to life with two step dance moves and the upbeat soundtrack with intervals during the show.

Quirky Owl prints and striking pictorial imagery on knitwear evoked the weekend night owls drawn to the Northern Soul club scene dancing from dusk till dawn.

STYLE INSPIRATION IDEAS FOR NEW YEARS EVE PARTY ATTIRE

WHAT TO WEAR TO A BLACK TIE NYE MASQUERADE BALL

New Years Eve Outfits

New Year’s Eve the one day of the Year you can reflect on your life on the best parts and remove all negativity and just focus on the good things which are worth holding onto. I like to think of it as a ritual cleansing process to put the past behind you and start fresh. Whatever that maybe, it can be anything you like from toxic relationships, New Year’s resolutions and a wardrobe de-tox.

But, first and foremost finding the perfect party attire on New Year’s could also be a decadent affair to dress and impress. You can’t go wrong with some of these pre-selected luxury items by mixing Italian and Quintessentially British Style to achieve a well polished look just in time for Midnight Celebrations.

This year, I decided to Celebrate New Years Eve with close friends at the most beautiful London town house for a Masquerade themed Ball at The House St Barnabas in the West End. I remember the twinkle of the fairy lights all illuminated as they gleamed with soft lighting which gave character to the ambience – a great atmosphere too.

I just can’t wait to try some of these looks for myself as you have a choice between classic and contemporary looks which define elegance at its finest for all you discerning gentlemen be sure to look your best. British Style favourites of mine include Turnbull & Asser for their pristine cut shirts to accessories from Paul Smith, Aspinal of London and Italian classic labels by Salvatore Ferrgamo.

There are some great options from Mid-range to the High street such as Tuxedo Tailoring in Midnight Blue with Shawl lapels from Thom Sweeney which you can wear with your favourite bow tie, a pair of Boss Black formal footwear and a smart ASOS winter overcoat. You still have time to shop before midnight strikes 12 tomorrow evening as we say goodbye to 2017 in style.

SON OF A TAILOR HAVE GOT THE PERFECT CUSTOM FIT MADE TO MEASURE T-SHIRT’S

The Copenhagen Menswear Brand have designed an Algorithm for the ultimate premium bespoke t-shirt experience made to order

Did you know that Copenhagen based Menswear brand Son of Tailor have come up with creating the perfect algorithm for designing the ideal custom fit t-shirts for Men. And I was one of the lucky few selected to get my hands on one before they launched recently.

And Just Like that, the other day a T-shirt arrived for me in the mail which I wanted to express how excited I am to learn a bespoke t-shirt company the 1st of its kind named ‘Son of A Tailor’ was founded in the Denmark has launched into the UK market.

I’m ever so grateful the Brand kindly gifted me in the process. From day one it arrived its been a favourite staple in my closet and they even got the colour, size and fit correct according to my personal measurements all part of the great customer service you’d expect from a premium brand was impeccable. I just love the concept and rather impressed with my very own made to measure t-shirt.

I immediately grasped the idea of having bespoke shirts to fit perfectly with a custom made fit. So why not t-shirts which Menswear Brand Son of a Tailor introduces the concept to the mass market. If you want great value for money, precise cut, fit and high quality fabrics Son of A Tailor ensures longevity of a tailor made classic for the contemporary gentlemen’s closet.

Just to think I’ll never have to shop for a poorly made t-shirt again as its often a challenge to find one that fits me without a doubt. At least with Son of a Tailor they send you a tape measure to measure your exact measurements which you then send off to them to begin the process of making your very own custom made t-shirt.

And finally a ‘Styling Tip’ I often find all you need is a simple detail like a classic t-shirt to complete a smart casual look worn under a tailored jacket is understated and still elegant without being too formal. It looks great every time and make sure you add a Bespoke T-shirt to you’re closet as every man need’s to own one being a timeless classic staple you can wear over and over again.

Disclaimer: #AD This item was kindly Gifted to me  by Son of a Tailor Copenhagen to promote their launch into the U.K. Market. All opinions will be my own.

BRITISH SUPERMODEL KATE MOSS DEBUT’S NEW CAPSULE COLLECTION FOR HIGH STREET RETAIL GIANT RESERVED CLOTHING

The Celebrity Fashion Collaboration everybody is talking about on the British High Street makes its 1st debut in London for its official store opening and launch this Fall

#ReservedForMe #ReservedForUs

Today I had a very early start as I made my way into central London to celebrate the new launch of Kate Moss’s exclusive clothing range in collaboration with High Street Polish Retailer Reserved. I have been looking forward to this all week which was very exciting to attend an event like this on a large scale when a new brand gets introduced to the UK High Street.

Also I do like discovering new brands too to include to my everyday style staples in my closet as we are now in September when the weather transitions into autumn and before long it gets colder again during Winter.

Reserved Clothing

The Brands clothing range lucky for me includes Menswear too, but the focus today was primarily around the Women’s range designed by Kate Moss for Reserved Clothing.

I do admire the brands aesthetic as it appeals to me being very minimal and contemporary with a premium feel to it. Observing the apparel pieces in terms of quality would be similar to the price range of Zara for Trend pieces.

“Meant to be worn Made to be liked”

There was a great atmosphere in store today surrounding all the buzz and publicity about the brand and promoting Kate Moss’ new line to the masses proved very popular amongst fashion fans and loyal followers of the Reserved Clothing label.

What do you think about it so far, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new range of ready to wear pieces for both Men & Women. In my opinion personal favourites will have to be tailored pieces such as the Blazers which is the most versatile staple you can wear with anything to dress up or create a smart casual outfit.

Reserved Clothing

Rocker Dandy inspired pieces include signature leather jackets for Menswear for a polished outfit.

For the launch today I decided to wear a monochrome look which is simple but yet still understated to make a style statement and still look polished was exactly the look I was going for to capture the moment.

The onsite photo booth was quite fun to snap photo’s for social media so you could create a giff video clip to add to your social media on instagram which is always good to promote the brand and show support for their outreach campaign.
