The weather seems pleasant today and I’ve just arrived at the Mayfair Flagship store Private White V.C. for designer Nick Ashley and his teams preview for the new Spring Summer 2017 collection. Always a pleasure to be greeted with the warmest welcome from the team always there to ensure to give you a run through on the latest style Edit.

Organic pieces take centre stage to enhance fit and its silhouettes bringing them to life where the rich colour palettes influenced by nature and the five elements of the universe Ayurveda evoke water, air, fire and earth.

By the looks of it, observing the key collection pieces they’re perfect for that weekend getaway. Models appear to have travel ticket itinerary boarding passes in their hands ready for their next holiday.

Spring Summer 2017 style inspiration from the Film ‘Brideshead Re-visited written by novelist Evelyn Waugh set in Britain’s Nineteen Twenties era.

Even some of the key looks from the Private White V.C collection reminded me of the period costumes Actor Jeremy Irons wears on screen were authentic classic pieces.

The Colour palette used – blue celeste, rust colour, grey, white, sage green inspired from nature

Like the Movie the collection takes you back to the golden era before the Second World War to discover the decade of dapper style adapted for the modern dandy. So, just a bit of fashion history I’m making reference to from the television series and film that redefined fashion for menswear to present day

It is a known fact that as automobiles became more affordable cars helped pioneer men’s fashion trends into a new era where casual leisure outfits were equally popular during the 1920’s popular culture.

Just being here up close with the collection I imagined myself getting dressed in 1920’s inspired menswear attire from sartorial tailoring, fine luxury shoes to hats and more styled with pants and suspenders. White introduces contemporary casual style staples adapted for leisure day wear separates ‘evoking a less formal and sportier dress sense for men was the height of style in the nineteen twenties when sportswear entered mainstream fashion.

Jetting somewhere nice this summer let’s hope so. I haven’t really given it some thought but I’m thinking somewhere between a staycation vacation, or better yet Ibiza, Montenegro, Mykonos or The Hampton’s for the 4th July would be the ideal summer situation don’t you think.

Need more inspiration what to pack for this summer vacation find inspiration here

BACK TO SCHOOL IVY LEAGUE DETAILS INSPIRES THE PINK SHIRT MAKER FOR FALL

VIBRANT PREPPY LEISURE WEAR ATTIRE BRINGS THE FUN FOR FALL AT LONDON COLLECTIONS MEN

For this season’s collection leisurewear attire defines vibrant bold colour palettes inspired by Ivy League preppy styles in a range of smart ready to wear clothing.

The well structured silhouetted tailoring was made for the debonair man about town which clashed in contrast with character.

Thomas Pink

With this in mind, here’s inspiration for pursuing fun leisurely pursuits reflected in eccentric colour combinations from smart casual separates to accessories.

Styling references of 1930 – 1940’s was very evident in the collections retro theme which stood out for me personally re-visiting the era of fine classic menswear.

Thomas Pink

Models wore vibrant knits under herringbone sport coats in olive to sweaters over shirts with bow ties looked understated and very dapper.

Accessories such as beanie hats and colourful men’s apparel comprised of block colours of bright orange, turquoise and burgundy contrasted well with the room’s interior decor.

Subtle Styling references of 1930 looked radiantly dashing in the collections retro theme which stood out for me personally re-visiting the era of fine classic menswear.

I felt this represented the well heeled gentlemen during his weekend off campus channeling that Film “Another Country” with a young Cary Elwes, Colin Firth and Rupert Everett set in the nineteen thirties of an elite British Public School. I do particularly love a pair of braces on a gentleman as it gives the outfit personality and charm from a style point of view. I urge you’ve got to see this movie to know what I mean…..

Thomas Pink

I’ve always been fond of the English Pink Shirt Maker from ready to wear and bespoke clothing ranges are very versatile to wear and the luxury quality is second to none. You can always expect well handmade shirts made to last and classic investment pieces. Need inspiration to keep things casual, but still want to opt for a polished look that’s sartorial sharp. I’d go with one of Thomas Pinks 3 piece suits and maybe forget the tie for a relaxed look.

After a long day of shows and presentations during men’s fashion week the Thomas Pink collection never fails to disappoint although it did make me blush with models portraying fictional debonair men characterised in ‘Another Country’. Not forgetting at the same time you can appreciate every fine detail admiring the clarity of colour in this seasons range.

Definitely check this fine English shirt maker in Jermyn Street London  and take a stroll if you’re a fan of classic menswear I’d start just right here for one of a kind gentlemen’s attire.

A NIGHT WITH ESQUIRE MAGAZINE & DKNY MENSWEAR

DKNY MEN x ESQUIRE Magazine Party Celebrating London Collections Men: LCM

By Posted on 0 Comments Location: 2min read1179 views

Good evening, just checking in with you guys to give you an update on how my week is going during the shows at London Collections Men Fashion Week.  I started off my week assisting a fashion stylist with her busy fashion week schedule as you can imagine some days would undoubtedly begin with early morning starts.  First email of the day as I check the main inbox there’s a reminder about tonight’s Event for DKNY & Esquire Magazine, next screening phone calls for messages and press sample request from PR’s. With Men’s Fashion Week was no exception, but I always say to myself each day brings new set challenges, goals and experiences, with last minute changes, so you can be all over town and constantly on the go.

After attending a few shows and presentations it’s an opportunity to see what designer’s are doing ahead of time and have an idea of what’s trending in the stores and high street 6 months later prior to the new season. Before DKNY tonight there is the Velsvoir Men’s presentation, soon after it’s time to change outfit ready for tonight’s event and dress up wearing my DKNY Jeans blazer this evening which looks great for smart casual and understated with a relaxed feel.

These are the pictures I took on the last day of LCM! I really loved this Jacket a classic statement piece in my closet – it’s so versatile too. An investment piece for all occasions formal or semi formal, which set’s the mood perfectly with the London nightlife scene… One big trend this season is Monochrome which makes you feel dressy and contemporary. Enjoy the snaps, had the best time at the Fashion Week closing party… I felt amazing in this DKNY jacket!

DKNY MEN SPRING SUMMER 2015 COLLECTION PREVIEW

DKNY MENSWEAR CELEBRATES LONDON COLLECTIONS MEN WITH ESQUIRE MAGAZINE FOR EXCLUSIVE LAUNCH PARTY!

Nick Grimshaw Radio 1 DJ took to the decks to provide the soundtrack floor fillers to get the party crowd started, where he was joined by Jude Law’s son Rafferty Law who opened the catwalk show.  Male model Tom Gaskin of D1 models also walked in the runway for DKNY this season.

The sponsors of the event were Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve for beverages and Mercedes Benz. It was a full house and the DKNY PR Girl Aliza Licht would be proud.

Jessie looked great in a DKNY statement piece pastel pink suit teamed with chunky white platforms and a low cut blouse which showed off her lace lingerie.  While the Saturday’s Mollie King was sporting a gold dress mini ensemble rubbing shoulders with celebrities including Lindsey Lohan, Chloe Green, Wretch 32, model Zara Martin and Mr Selfridge star Jeremy Piven was looking very dapper in a brown suit.

During the show we saw t-shirts/sportswear worn under well structured and fitted tailoring come down the runway, loose fitting oversized jackets teamed with white trousers, dark skinny jeans, and slouchy pants. Smart armband details gave the collection a little edge, while lux sportswear details were intertwined and combined with formal pieces to create contemporary ensembles.

Casual separate’s included jersey cotton sweaters, short sleeve printed shirts in sheer fabrics, loose fitting oversized-t-shirts tucked in at the waist. Some casual separates were cropped at mid arm length to create the illusion of layering and proportion. Collection colour schemes for spring summer evoked the true spirit of New York style inspired by dark navy, siren taxi yellow, pure white and contrast mono chrome tones.

I still remember the day I was treated to my first shopping trip in London in my early teens and it was at DKNY and will never forget it as everything fit me so well. The brand philosophy always meant my wardrobe was always a key statement in my everyday life to stay current, fresh and contemporary. It’s just perfect to take your ensemble from day into night.

The men’s fashion week will showcase the best of British menswear style SS15 which runs from June 15th to June 17th with a number of fashion industry events where the stars can show off their best fashion statements.

Disclaimer: Thank you so much to DKNY & Esquire for hosting an amazing event during London Collections Men. As always all opinions will be my own and I only choose to review brands I would use myself to provide honest feedback on products I love to wear.

PINSTRIPES & PROHIBITION | DECADENCE FOR THE MODERN DAY DANDY AT VELSVOIR

CLASSIC MENSWEAR INSPIRED COLLECTION FROM THE GREAT GATSBY ERA FOR AUTUMN WINTER 2015

Velsvoir showcases bespoke menswear tailoring collection during London Collections Men with a presentation at Edition Hotels London.

The Brothers innovative take on menswear is unique with traditional sharp cuts and approach to ready wear tailoring with Savile Row techniques is understated, luxurious and contemporary. I love their modern edge concept of re-defining tailoring to satisfy even the utmost discerning clientele.

Velsvoir

It’s all in the details this season where velvet arm garters worn with shawl waistcoats and neckties. I thought the drop collar shirts and skinny necktie added contemporary touches for a clean polished look or cutaway shirts with printed cravats.

A Prohibition look would not be complete without the signature trouser brace with printed box tie garnered my attention with significance of the Great Gatsby.

Classic outfit staples convey excess and decadence painting a picture of the roaring twenties. I really like the variety in the range of waistcoats, shirts and textures including accessories from silk, wool to fine cashmere.

With shirts in mind the classic round tab classic Gatsby Shirt with white club collar looked striking against the bold stripes shirt silhouettes.

Even the concealed braces were cleverly done with eccentric personality as lapel trouser braces.

Velsvoir

For me there was a certain romanticism associated with the styling of the collection to look very dapper such as the peak lapel waistcoat, cutaway shirts worn with signature Print Velsvoir Cravats.

I did love visiting the EDITION Hotels in London today to preview the Velsvoir AW 2015 Collection in the basement. In fact it was the ideal place to set the scene well for a Prohibition Private Members club was very authentic to add a touch of glamour indicative of that 20’s era.
