PREVIEWING THE NEW BELSTAFF TRAVELOGUE S/S 2020 COLLECTION

SPRING SUMMER 2020 COLLECTION

By Posted on 0 Comments Location: 1min read2071 views

Today I went to preview the new Menswear and Womenswear collection during London Fashion Week Men’s over the weekend for Belstaff Spring Summer 2020 Travelogue in Hoxton Docks East London. I always rather look forward to each season because I admire the contemporary take on the brands history by Belstaff’s Creative Director Lehnhardt-Moore where he captures the imagination of the labels industrial heritage.

For this season the inspiration is drawn from the original archive where travel and exploring remain at the heart of the brands aesthetics hence the self title of the new collection Travelogue.

Fine details in the collection were kept contemporary with use of contrasts such as juxtaposing textures and colours between soft and hard where the contrast provide the essential look for a modern wardrobe.

Signatures pieces that inspired this seasons collection were the sleevless Castmaster cotton fishing jacket in orange from the archive in orange dry waxed cotton vs khaki version retains sleeves of the original and the XL500 Nautical Jacket from the nineteen seventies was re-imagined in Oxford Nylon.

Themes in the collection explore the influence of military is evident in the use of deep English rifle green and the newly introduced camo tech fabric.

Throughout the collection worn in looks are created with the use of slub yarns and pigment dyed fabrics for a vintage feel including pieces in dyed sahara cloth and cotton broadcloth create a military look.

With this in mind Belstaff have catered to those who love to travel and explore with key looks such as a battered safari jacket is teamed with raw Ecru denim, while new adventure print show line drawn illustrations applied to a rayon shirt for women and linen version for men.

I really liked the luxury fine knits and oiled suede polish up the look, contrast with sun faded pique shirts and sweatshirts for men and women.

Lastly, to finish off the look for the modern man and woman trooper boots in brown leather and canvas, along with a chukka boots with commando sole in suede and stonewashed cross body canvas bags with leather trims give edge to the collection this spring summer 2020 collection.

BELSTAFF AW 2019 COLLECTION | BRITISH ROOTS WITH HERITAGE

It’s the last day of London Fashion Week Men’s, but I managed to catch only part of it upon my return after the Christmas Break. It’s great to be back in town as New Year has come around so quickly and before you know it we are in work mode again.

This season I noticed at fashion week it has been cut from 5 to 3 days with some designers pulling out of schedule while other’s are talking about attending Pitti U’mo in Italy. But, still we can make the most of Fashion Week and attend some shows to view the new seasons collections.

London Fashion Week Men's

With the exception of Belstaff I’m always looking forward to attending the presentation and support British Fashion as there’s all this speculation surrounding how Brexit will affect the fashion industry if we leave the EU.

London Fashion Week Men's

Heritage brands are deeply rooted in tradition which make it so special that it’s worth celebrating it’s success because men’s fashion week is the ideal platform to promote British Style on an international level with the exceptional pool of talent we have in London.

Creative Director Sean Lehnhardt-Moore and reflects his passion for the roots of the brand where technical fabrics capture the modern day essence of advanced treated raw materials.

Exciting times, but not forgetting it’s all the hard work and effort people put in as the industry must be worth billions in the U.K. Economy which is why Brexit might not be great in terms of the single market for business. The Belstaff presentation was held upstairs at their flagship store on Bond Street as I was kindly directed upstairs via a lift in the discreet lobby. It was a smaller venue this time round so I’m glad I attended the event early on as I was not the only one as the venue soon reached it’s maximum capacity being the last day of Men’s Fashion Week. As you would expect during LFW MENS very busy indeed as Stylist, Bloggers, Influencers and Press all mingled together to view Belstaff Autumn Winter 2019 Collection: Great British Roots hosted by Brand Ambassadors The Turner Twin’s and various VIP’s in attendance.

Experience the distinctive spirit and contemporary evolution of the brands story revisiting the history of outfitting motorcyclist and adventurers.

I noticed in the centre of the room at Belstaff House in Mayfair the space was dominated by large packing crates with large Persian rugs suggesting the spirit of travel iconic with the brands DNA. It was an amazing experience to observe up close the distinctive spirit and contemporary evolution of the brands story revisiting the history of outfitting motorcyclist and adventurers.

London Fashion Week Men's

What drew me to the brand during my first encounter with the label is the innovative use luxury fabrics and finishes where are hand waxed leather, suede and shearling, the finest blends of merino wool’s and cashmere to name a few. Although we associate the brand with their renowned signature jackets this season explores an in depth look of knitwear styles which can be styled as layering pieces as the answer to modern outerwear.

London Fashion Week Men's

The Autumn Winter 2019 collection is the first by newly appointed Creative Director Sean Lehnhardt-Moore and reflects his passion for the roots of the brand where technical fabrics capture the modern day essence of advanced treated raw materials. To this day Belstaff stays true to this philosophy since pioneering the label in the industrial north of England during the 1920’s. All the clothing is very versatile to wear and these iconic jackets instantly stand out as classic staples to form part of your wardrobe essentials which make it ideal for traveling too season to season.

London Fashion Week Men's

Most of all I love spotting the fleet of London Fashion Week Mens Wagons sponsored by Mercedes Benz which you always see around town during the shows confirms no doubt it’s fashion week has arrived once again this season.

BELSTAFF MARKS THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICONIC TRIALMASTER JACKET DURING LFW MEN’S AW 2018

belstaff trialmaster jacket

London Fashion Week Men’s this season celebrates a poignant moment in the British labels history to mark the 70th Anniversary of the iconic Trial Master Jacket.

Belstaff’s self titled collection Made In The UK presents a unisex clothing range deeply rooted in the 100th year history of innovation and legacy of protection for adventure.

The Autumn Winter 2018 collection draws inspiration from the English Subcultures through exploration of the Trial Master’s history from a curated selection of the original archive through innovations in fabrics, production and design aesthetic portraying a bygone era when they were launched.

This iconic four pocket Trial Master Jacket was originally designed for protection against harsh weather conditions during the Scottish Six Day’s Trials showcases colour, distinct decorative pins and badges that depict the pride of previous generations.

A sense of youth bears resemblance to referencing the 1950’s from Mod’s, Rocker’s, and Punk era that sought freedom of expression through music and fashion with inter generational popular culture clashes.

Belstaff since 1924 has been the supplier of protective clothing for generations of pioneers which now includes its discerning clientele that thrives on modern day spirit of adventure.

Following on from the presentation Belstaff hosted a private event with Liberty of London to celebrate the new Origins Collection presenting the latest in technology and new innovative fabrics such as ultra stretch lightweight nylon and tri layer nylon as functional weather proof and high performance materials.

This season’s collection explores the epic journey of the rider’s adventures travelling through extreme conditions during their journey on the Paris to Dakar Rally.

Influences of retro themes made their debut during men’s fashion week at other designer shows as Belstaff took inspiration from the late 70’s and early 80’s era mixing modern performance fabrics with retro sports graphics and prints.

A rather distinct collection was well put together where patterns and prints contrast with retro inspired sportswear elevated the multi seasonal technical use of luxurious materials and bold prints served with functionality. As per seasonal signature items you can guarantee the outwear remains at the core of the collection each season experimenting with colour, leather, graphic and prints and more.
