SUPERDRY LAUNCHES SUMMER SESSIONS LIVE MUSIC CONCEPT WITH EMERGING ARTIST FROM THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

#SUPERDRYSOUNDS

Superdry revealed their latest lifestyle concept last night by launching a successful music showcase with Emerging Music Artist known as Superdry Summer Sessions featuring Aaron Unknown, Timmy Xu to a Live DJ set by Sam Blacky.

The Superdry Brand was founded by Julian Dunkerton in Gloucestershire and has since been going strong since 1985 bringing its blend of vintage Americana and Japanese graphic inspired clothing to the mass market.

It was the perfect platform to promote music artist by collaborating with a renowned lifestyle brand such as Superdry which has a world wide international mass appeal to connect with its audiences. This is my first hand experience of seeing the brand incorporating music and fashion as a Lifestyle Brand which I fully support and encourage because I am a huge fan of live music and new talent.

Superdry

When I arrived for the event at their flagship store I was curious to see the set up of the party as I’ve heard Superdry have hosted a Mens Fashion Week party for LCM: London Collections Men previously inside. As I make my way up to second floor I’m led by the friendly staff to a discreet entrance staircase leading to the stores top floor. I could not believe it, but they converted the whole of the shop floor into a pop-up nightclub complete with bars, sound stage and DJ-Booth was very least expected, but cool at the same time.

Upon arrival there was a prosecco wine reception and warm greeting by the PR reps and information about all the live acts on the landyards before heading to the dance floor equip with sound stage for tonights performances. The turnout at the venue was really huge and the fashionista crowd settled in well with a few drinks from the complimentary bar.

What I love most about fashion parties is bumping into familiar faces makes it more fun and great to catch up over some great music which reminds me its Coachella shortly. And I’m afraid its #Nochella as I can’t go but there are going to be some great music festivals this summer closer to home.

MARY BENSON X RELENTLESS ENERGY DRINK LIVE GRAFFITI STREET ARTIST COLLABORATION

It’s that time of year again when we can all look forward to the beginning of summer starting with music festival season as renowned Lifestyle Brand Relentless Energy Drinks will most likely be lending their name to major sporting events, festivals and now street style fashion.

Relentless Energy Drink collaborates with British Fashion Designer Mary Benson for a pop-up store launch in the west end and I got to see the exclusive preview of her latest work.

Mary Benson launched her debut collection with Fashion East in 2014 where she was awarded the prestigious TOPSHOP Sponsorship for AW2015 a great accolade in the designers career. It was my firsthand experience of coming across the label and I love discovering new designer brands at Fashion Week.

This season Mary returns with an exclusive line of unisex vinyl and screen printed street wear which were on show during the launch night. Graffiti adorned the walls of the event alongside the pieces from the collection which were quirky and fun evoked street style sub culture with an onsite Street Artist creating live art work.

Last July marked the designers second major milestone to move into the space of online retail with the labels very own stand alone e-commerce store.

In the past Mary Benson has collaborated with ASOS releasing an exclusive shoe and accessories collection last year with an event in associate with Hackney Walk and Stitch Academy.

MACGREGOR AND MACDUFF HOST QUINTESSENTIAL EVENING TO CELEBRATE THE LAUNCH OF LONDON POP-UP STORE

FIND YOUR CLAN WITH THE KINGS OF KILTS

Scottish Kilt

It’s already Spring so that means it’s time to start thinking about Wedding Season and already I can’t help feel excited there’s another engagement party and wedding to look forward to this time round. It’s also the perfect opportunity to meet someone new. Just a hint, that’s only if you’re in the market for being single. Who knows you might even meet Mr Right.

With that said you must always look your best and be well prepared for any special occasion such as a wedding in the most exquisite attire. Macgregor and Macduff’s team were very kind to invite me to their exclusive private view of the new collection at their London Pop-Up Store in Shoreditch.

There are 4,000 swatch fabrics to choose from and you can guarantee quintessential style with only the finest fabric textiles produced by The House of Edgar.

Luxury unique accessories were showcased as well as ready to wear tailoring and to my surprise the bespoke option of made to order clothing is available and formal wear hires too.  I’ve never come across traditional formal Scottish attire until now so I was definitely curious to find out more.

I recently attended a Scottish friend’s house party and trying Haggis for the first time during Burns Night intrigued me what it means to be a true Scotsman.  So why not learn to dress like one for your special day. Also, my love affair with Black watch Tartan began with an obsession after watching the cult teen classic Movie “Clueless”.

The tartan check fabric is so classic and iconic which still influences my style to this day as well as being very current and on trend. From Vogue Editor’s to Runway Designers, Catwalks from London to Milan tartan is everywhere and will never go out of style.

Having attended London Fashion Week lately it’s important to know the origin of style trends for instance Versace Autumn Winter 2018 collections was self titled the Versace Clan. Tartan is most certainly the biggest trend at the moment so it’s great to include classic staples like Black watch tartan in your closet.

In homage for the store launch I wore one of my jumper’s by Zara Man with a black watch tartan patch so I felt I really fit right in.  I really loved the small Scottish Sporan menswear bags made of wildfox, cow and mink hair to accessorise many styles of kilts in the showroom. To my astonishment and delight these had to be my favourite luxury must have items. I felt the array of animal fur bags could be styled to match my own Black watch tartan coat.

I have quite an eye for detail too so there was no harm in making a wish list of things to shop for in this instance. However I did come across a distinct military style jackets that’s worn usually for black tie occasions. I was thinking I could wear one of the jackets for fashion week as the ideal style statement piece to wear front row at shows or on the red carpet styled in my own unique way.

Be sure to make a visit to the Macgregor and Macduff Pop-Up store in Shoreditch till further notice or every fortnight for private fitting appointments or bespoke request at The Court House Hotel London.

OFF-WHITE FASHION LABEL X ARTIST TAKASHI MURAKAMI COLLABORATE FOR SOLO ART EXHIBITION

THE PRIVATE PREVIEW AT GAGOSIAN GALLERY LONDON

On the eve of London Fashion it’s not uncommon to see large crowds queuing down the street especially for a fashion show or event.

Today is the opening reception and private view of ‘Future History’ by legendary Artist Takashi Murakami in collaboration with exclusive fashion label OFF-WHITE by designer Virgil Abloh exhibits in London.

Street wear fans of OFF-WHITE and the Artist gathered to view the exclusive works of art at the Mayfair Gallery.

If you’re a fan of street style subcultures, contemporary and graffiti style art work drop on by, but just to give you a heads up there might be a long queue or if you can get on the VIP list it might just be your lucky day.

Sometimes it’s great to take in some inspiration especially if it’s great works of art and I wanted to take a moment to have break from the catwalk shows during London Fashion Week to relax.

Here’s what’s on show at the exhibition so come down and see for yourself. It’s just like that book I read at University NO LOGO by Naomi Klein what is the value of brands and how doe’s popular culture influence us in society.

OFF-WHITE

Whether Art or Fashion the message is clearly intended to draw the viewers in that we must buy into popular culture in order to be part of something big.

Off-White is a creative collective or at least now an art, fashion and music movement with a huge following on social media. For those that have not heard of Off-White it’s currently the cult street wear label of the moment and lifestyle brand getting lots of media attention for it’s exclusive collaborations.

GAZELLI ART HOUSE PRESENTS PHILIP COLBERT NEW PAINTINGS FOR HIS INAUGURAL SOLO EXHIBITION LAST NIGHT

Yesterday evening the Fashion, Music and Art World came together to Celebrate the new works of Art by acclaimed Fashion Designer Philip Colbert for his private view and opening night at The Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. I’ve been a great fan of Philips work since the beginning and always excited to see what he comes up with next. I attended his last pop up event during the summer in East London and the theme’s of his work becomes even more quirky and fun every time. His playful take on popular culture such as Snoopy to the Red Lobster play their significant part’s to resemble what popular culture means to it’s viewers and how it can be interpreted through communicating visual imagery which is iconic.

For Colbert’s solo exhibition you can sense there is a juxtaposition where art, fashion, media are merged together depicting how popular culture which surrounds us can influence and affect our lives. By observing the Artist paintings up close we see a world full of chaos in today’s society, war on terror, the demise of the American dream to mainstream social media in the digital age being the driving force of our society. I think it’s great to see fashion and art form their close relationship to evolve as modern day contemporary surrealism which is intriguing to look at.

The presence of Philip’s Muse’s wearing his signature pieces as worn by model Lady Victoria Hervey for the evening and fashionista’s made things more interesting as the iconic clothing made people feel the art was jumping out of the painting as things that were tangible. It brought movement to the concept of the evening as living works of art were brought to life in the room. You felt part of the designers vision as the spectator looking into his artistic world of creativity. Even, if your not a fan of art it’s something worth seeing if you fancy exploring the relationship between fashion and art in a deeper context as Andy Warhol once did. Vogues’ Editor at Large Andre Leon Talley describes Philip as the godson of Andy Warhol where he brings pop back to British painting with great energy, transporting historical icons alongside today’s celebrities and iconic motifs.
