Hey! guys so here’s what’s new lately on my thoughts for Men’s Winter Coat Trends this Fall. Just recently, I recall  seeing  Vogue doing an Interview with Actress Alicia Silverstone who gives insight to her iconic yellow plaid outfit in the Cult teen Movie Clueless explaining how it holds a significance in popular culture and the plaid trend that dominate the catwalk ‘keeps coming back in style”. Believe it or not the orginal twin set plaid outfit worn by Alicia in the movie was Dolce & Gabanna chosen by Costume Designer Mona May and Film Director Amy Heckerling.

To this day, the fascination with plaid has stuck with me ever since and so it will always hold a special place in my heart forever as it’s such an iconic piece in popular culture that even Versace dedicated a whole collection to pay homage to plaid.

Black Watch Tartan

For those of you wondering what is ‘Blackwatch Tartan’, and where does it originate from? Infact you’d be astonished to find out that it is associated with the British Infantry Regiment that has roots dating back to 1715 born after the first Jacobite Rebellion.

Interestingly enough The Blackwatch is now part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland founded in July 1881 by Royal Colonel: HRH The Duke of Rothesay is quite special don’t you think? It’s interesting what you can actually find out about the origins of clothing throughout history and society.

“Black Watch Tartan A Cult Classic Heritage Trend”

I first realised seeing this style of coat worn during the House of Holland Show by former Fashion Editor of Teen Vogue Phillipe Picardi but managed to find an alternative close enough to the trend at ZARA MAN which is my number 1 go to for trend pieces and find similar styles from the runway from season to season here.

You can’t go wrong with Zara when it comes to trend pieces just because they are so on point and the quality you find here is great which you can guarantee that’s reflected in the brands premium price point.

This is what I love about the high street because you can emulate designer looks and I do love to mix less expensive trend pieces with designer pieces at times to create individual looks of my own. Personal style and taste is always something that has stuck with me rather than lavishly following trends and let’s face it who even has the money to splash on new clothes all the time right.
